About Hornbuckle

Our strategy is simple: we’ve set our sights on being the partner of choice for people who need complex retirement solutions.

We deliver our specialist products and services through a wide range of intermediary distribution partners, including independent financial advisers, wealth managers, employee benefit consultants and private banks. Today, we have around 12,000 individual members who have placed over £3.8 billion of invested pension assets through our business. These assets are invested across a diverse range of products from unlisted and listed share instruments to commercial property and cash.

Nearly half of our members are in the drawdown phase, deploying a comprehensive range of structures to achieve their income goals. Building on our technical insight and expertise, we pride ourselves on providing reasonably priced, risk-controlled solutions to most pension needs.

Our corporate culture

We’ve built our business on a steadfast commitment to improve on what we do – every single day. That commitment starts with our own employees. We work hard to create a positive environment where our people can perform and develop in line with our high professional standards. What’s more, we continually invest in our infrastructure to make sure we can deliver exactly what our clients need. And for our clients themselves, we have two simple goals: to help them secure their financial future, and to safeguard their interests with rigorous risk controls.

Our history

We’ve been a robust force in the retirement market for more than 30 years. Back in 1982, we started out by providing financial advice to our clients and administering small self- administered schemes (SSAS). We grew quickly, developing our business and expanding our administrative capabilities along the way.  In 1997, we entered the self-invested personal pension (SIPP) market. Since then, we’ve focused on developing specialist SIPP and SSAS solutions to meet the needs of financial and professional intermediaries and their clients.

We sold the financial advisory arm of our business in 2009 in order to focus on acting as a specialist SIPP and SSAS trustee. Over the years, we’ve earned a reputation as a leading specialist pension provider thanks to our focus on delivering maximum investment flexibility along with exceptional technical expertise. We’ve also grown into a national company, serving clients across the UK.
